Gimhae National Museum

The relics dating from the Old Stone Age to the downfall of Gaya Kingdom are on display at the Gimhae National Museum. It is a museum specialized in the archeological excavation, maintenance and preservation of Cultureal heritages of Gaya Kingdom. Unlike other museums, it is a museum specialized in the systematic organization of Gaya Culturee. It is located at 230 Gusan-dong, Gimhae. It is located at the western foot of Gujibong Peak that was the origin of Garak Kingdom and Historic Site No. 429/.
Located on a site of 15.758 pyeong, the building is 2.896 pyeong(1 underground floor and 3 above the ground floors). It was opened on July 29, 1998. As of December, 2002, 8,500 items of relics including earthenware, metal items, precious stones, bone tools, wooden tools, and armors are on display. The outside of museum building is black. It is the color of iron ore that symbolizes the advanced ironware Culturee of Gaya. It has Exhibition Halls 1 and 2, and Special Exhibition Hall.
Tombs of Bronze Age and Three Kingdoms Period have been moved to the outside exhibition area. For the education of general public, it provides various classes such as "Learning about the museum with mom" for children, and "Gaya Academy" for adults. It is a place for archaeological research and exhibition as well as a place for promoting the excellence of Gaya Culturee and tradition. When the Gaya Culturee Restoration Project is completed, the museum will be linked to the Relics in Bonghwang-dong via the Tumuli Museum in Daeseong-dong.
