Bunsan Fortress

Historic Site No.66/ Busan Fortress is in Bunsan. The mountain is 321m high in the northeast of Gimhae. The southern side of the mountain is cliff and called Manjangdae. Bunsan Fortress starts at the top of Manjangdae and goes around the terrain. It is a vertically elongated oval shaped stone fortress. It is a 29m long 3-7m high Temoe type mountain fortress estimated to have been built in the Gaya Period. In the 3rd year of King U of Goryeo Period, it was rebuilt by Park Wi, the head of Gimhae-bu. It was demolished after the Japanese Invasion in 1592. And in the 8th year of King Gojong of Joseon Period, it was restored by Jeong Hyeonseok, the head of Gimhae-bu. Fortress Construction Monument for Park Wi, Everlasting Remembrance Monument for Jeong Hyeongseok, and the writing of Manajangdae by Heungseon Daewongun, and Everlasting Remembrance Monument for Heungseon Daewongun remain at Manjangdae. It is one of the most favored morning hiking routes. In the fortress, there is a temple called Haeeunsa Temple which was named such to pay tribute to the sea because Queen Heo Hwangok came across the sea.
