Agriculture has been developed in Gimhae since the Bronze Age, and it was a major rice producing area in Korea. As there were many clean streams from old days, this area was called Cheongnae-myeon. And the sandy soil with gravel enables good drainage, good growth of roots, increased rice production, and better tasting rice. The rice produced in this area is considered better than the rice produced in other areas. The production quantity is about 80,000 sacks(40kg per sack). 4 rice mills including Agricultural Cooperative's rice mill are in operation. In Sinan Village, the rice is produced by using ducks and no pesticide or fertilizer is used, thus it is in great demand.
