Information on the strawberry

  • It is a perennial plant of genus Fragania of the family Rosaceae. It has long petiole and 3 relatively large round leaves with sawtooth edge.
  • Unlike other fruits which are developed from ovaries, the strawberry is developed from the receptacle. Seeds are not inside the fruit but on the outside.
  • The shape of fruit is a ball, egg, or oval shape. The color is usually red but occasionally white. The cultivar was developed through the crossbreeding of several wild species in Europe and America.
