Introduction
Para glider is an apparatus that combined special feature of a parachute and hang glider. It is ultra light, a man powered glider with an ideal type of wing equipped with safety, assembly and disassembly and transportation usability of a parachute and gliding ability and speed of hang glider. In other words, para gliding does not require other driving machine, but it could take off when the rider 'runs' first hand or take off in the original place to fly. This is a perfect sport to boost physical endurance, quickness and even effective for diet.
History
In 1984, a French mountaineer Jean Mark Cubbins first made hang glider by redesigning a parachute and succeed the first flying, which is the beginning of the world popular hang glider today. - About the same time in Korea, a skydiving instructor Lee Chun-sook attempted parachuting at the takeoff runway in Namhansanseong (A mountain fortress wall) Seomun and succeeds his first trial. Since then, hang gliding made rapid progress and aviation associations around the world rushed into introducing the Para Glider as a new flying genre and affiliated Para Gliding committees of Aviation Associations around the world were organized and it developed into one of the air sports by Commission International de Vol Libre (CIVL), an affiliated organization of International Aeronautics Federation (FAI). - Many Koreans are enjoying Para Gliding these days and there are about 20,000 people participating in clubs nationwide. It was appointed as a national sport among other air sports and under aggressive support of the government and local self-government, the glider runway has become a sports facilities and are being systematically developing and Gimhae city is teaching Para Gliding through Gimhae Blue Sky School and Gimhae Paragliding School at Shino Mountain, Yimho Mountain and Muchuk Mountain.
Terminology
Canopy: Airframe (Wings of Para gliding)
Harness: Connecting from suspension lines and riser to canopy
Suspension Lines: A string to connect canopy and harness
Riser: A string to connect a small suspension line in a bundle.
Caution
Must check the safety inspection (Weather conditions, configuration of the ground, equipment and the person riding the Para glider) at ones responsibility.
Do not operate if there are any obstacles (All dangerous articles of high voltage).
Always keep appropriate distance from other gliders and hang gliders.
Do not ride the instrument under bad bodily conditions.
Do not attempt to ride it alone.
Use only the equipment that has passed safety tests from proper testing agencies.
You must always be aware of other rider's location.
Fly on the right side when faced with each other.
Fly on the right side when overtaking.
The rider on the left side should yield when faced in the right angle.
When faced with the high performing glider and the low performing glider, the high performing glider should yield.
The airframe on the top should yield first.
