This museum was built to collect the relics of Gaya culture and systematically organize them by period to facilitate understanding of Gaya culture and to promote its excellence. The museum was built on this site to bring in the power of Gujibong Peak, the birthplace of Gaya Kingdom. The outside of the museum building is covered with black bricks to express iron ore and charcoal that symbolize the ironware culture of Gaya. The museum consists of Exhibition Hall I and Exhibition Hall II and 1,300 items of relics including wheel shaped earthenware, Treasure No. 637, are on display. Exhibition Hall I exhibits the relics of Prehistoric Era, Byeonhan, the foundation of Gaya, and Geumgwan Gaya that represented early Gaya Kingdom. Exhibition Hall II exhibits the relics showing the uniqueness of Gaya culture by area and changes. To aid the understanding of Gaya culture and the usage of relics, various replicas and graphic materials are provided. It is a place of history education for the public as well as a place of research on Gaya culture.
