It is a tree belonging to the ash family. When the flowers blossom, they look like a bowl of rice, thus it is called Ipap(meaning boiled rice) tree in Korean. This tree is about 500 years old. Its height is about 17m, and circumference near the ground is about 6.9m. It branches into two at 1m above the ground. The circumference of east branch is 4.2m and that of west branch is 3.5m. It flowers mid May to early June. A legend says that abundant flowers bring a good harvest and thus farmers love this tree

This tree is about 600 years old. Its height is about 15m and its circumference is about 35m. A sacrificial rite for the dragon king is held at the tree on the last day of December every year. A legend says that abundant flowers bring a good harvest and scant flowers bring a bad harvest. When the flowers bloom, they look like boiled rice, and thus called Ipap tree(meaning boiled rice) in Korean.
