A legend says that King Geodeung, the 2nd king of Garak Kingdom, invited a hermit in Chiljeomsan Mountain and enjoyed Korean harp and go game. An image of Buddha was engraved using shallow lines. It is also called the portrait of King Geodeung. However, compare to the body, the head is too big and the sculpture is very simple. Judging from the sculpture style, it is estimated to be Amitabha Maaebul of Goryeo Period. Its height is 5.1m and the width of shoulder is 2.5m and it is the largest Buddha statue in Gimhae.
