The memorial rite at Sungseonjeon

Sungseonjeon is a shrine for King Suro and his wife, Queen Heo Hwangok. It was built in the 15th year of King Gojong(1878). This shrine is one of 8 shrines for great kings. They include Sungyeongjeon for Dangun and King Dongmyeong, the founder of Goguryeo, Sunginjeon for Gija, the founder of Gija Joseon, Sungdeokjeon for Hyeokgeose, the founder of Silla, Sungsinjeon for King Talhae, Sunghyejeon for King Alji, King Munmu, and King Gyeongsun, Sungyeoljeon for King Onjo, the founder of Baekje, and Sunguijeon for the founder of Goryeo. A memorial rite is held twice a year on Mar. 15th in spring and on Sept. 15 in autumn in the lunar calendar. The memorial rite lasts for 1 hour from 11 AM.
